SARDAM STUDENTS PARTICIPATE IN BULLYING PREVENTION CAMPAIGN
During weeks 8 and 9 of Term 1, the SLO® Discipline Department at Sardam International School, a SABIS® PPP school in Kurdistan, held a school-wide bullying prevention campaign.
The aim of this campaign was to bring awareness to the different kinds of bullying and the negative effects of bullying on students. During the campaign the SLO® Discipline Department designed boards, posters, and flyers which were posted throughout the school and shared with the students. With the focus on prevention and awareness students understood the emphasis of having a safe and positive school atmosphere and why bullying should not be prevalent in such an environment.
In order to reinforce the anti-bullying message, prefects asked the students to support them by signing a bullying prevention certificate and contributing their hand prints to a board to show others their stance against bullying.
The campaign proved to be extremely successful as students opened up about bullying and came up with new ways to prevent it.
“It is really a great idea to hold such a campaign. It helps keep the students safe and enjoy attending school,” said a teacher.
