Sardam Girls Football Competition
On October 28, 2017, students in grades 6 and 7 at Sardam International School, a SABIS® PPP school in Kurdistan, participated in an all-girl football competition.
The girls along with their P.E. teacher and the SLO® Sports & Health Department prefects, headed to the Bera football field, where the competition was held. The students were divided into six teams of nine players each and through an elimination process, the winners were announced. After the competition, when the students were back at school, the P.E. teacher and administration awarded the winning team, the best player, and the best scorer, trophies for all their efforts.
The purpose of this activity was to encourage sports among the students, teach them about playing together as a team and about good sportsmanship. The students really enjoyed their time at the competition. “It was an amazing competition and we had a good time with our friends and teachers. We are looking forward to another competition to be held this year,” said a student.
