SABIS® PPP School in Kurdistan Welcomes Noteworthy Guest

On April 21, 2010, Sardam International School welcomed the Duhok regional head of the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP), Mr. Sarbast Lazgin. An important political figure of Duhok, Mr. Lazgin, who was accompanied by his KDP colleagues and an official from Duhok’s Education Directorate, was warmly welcomed by the school’s administration and staff.

Sardam International School is one of three Public-Private Partnership (PPP) schools managed by SABIS® in Kurdistan. The school contributes to the PPP’s mission of raising the standard of education in the public school system and rebuilding the nation by providing students a solid foundation of knowledge, skills, and experiences.

While touring the campus, Mr. Lazgin observed students in class. He commended the school’s significant progress in light of its recent opening. Highlighting the SABIS® Educational System’s curriculum, “Sardam International School differs from other public schools. It involves a very strong and successful system of education,” said Mr. Lazgin. “I believe Kurdistan is in need of having such well-educated students, who will be able to serve their homeland in a proper way,” he added.

Parents and the Duhok community have also recognized the school’s positive impact on the region. During Mr. Lazgin’s discussion with the school’s administration, he stressed the importance of the school for Duhok and the attention it has received. “The school has quickly received a good reputation among the citizens of Duhok and in the government,” commented Mr. Lazgin. “The proof lies in the families here who are eager to have their children attend the school.”

Given the strong demand by parents, the school administration and the guests discussed the school’s current facilities and the possible expansion in order to accommodate future growth. At the end of his visit, Mr. Lazgin praised and thanked the administration, teachers, and all others involved in the school for their efforts to provide a high-quality education and their commitment to make a difference in students’ lives.

The Sardam International School opened its doors in September 2009 and serves students in Kindergarten through Grade 3. All three SABIS® PPP schools in Kurdistan draw on SABIS®’s expertise to improve education and develop world-class citizens who will become instrumental in shaping the region’s future.
